Maximize Your Bartending Skills with Speed & Accuracy Test

Consistency is key when it comes to making cocktails. Every time a guest orders a drink, they expect it to taste the same as the last time they had it. And "pour test" is one of the essential element to ensure bartenders are making each drink with precision and accuracy.

Are you ready for it?

 FAQs

  • The test consists of two rounds:

First: pouring four times 25ml and four times 50ml.

    Second: pouring 5ml, 10ml, 15ml, 20ml, 25ml,30ml, 35ml, 40ml and 50ml. On this round below 20ml the decimals will be counted.

  • A competent bartender working with jiggers should be able to consistently score 95% so this is the par accuracy. The highest scores have been around 98%, so 3% better than par; therefore if every 0.1% equals 1 point, a score of 98% equates to +30 points. Scoring less than 95% is penalised in the same fashion, so a score of 94% equals -10 points, 93.5% equals -15 points and so on.

  • The test can be comfortably completed in 70 seconds so this is the par time. The fastest anyone has completed it (at 95% accuracy) is just under 50 seconds, so 20 seconds faster than par; therefore if every second equals 1.5 points, a score of 50 seconds also equates to +30 points. Taking longer than 70 seconds costs you 1.5 points per second as well, so 80 seconds equals -15 points etcetera.

  • The overall score combines the points for both accuracy and time. Note that zero is a presentable score: it represents the baseline for competency with jiggers. Better than zero is good, and negative points on either measure indicate an area for improvement.
